Reviews about Orchards Dental Practice
- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Awful - first annual check-up here... told I needed to brush the back few teeth better. Did I get a scale & polish? No. I was out in 30 seconds. But not before her recommending a hygienist. Asked why, was there something wrong with my gums? Told no... but that I need to take care of my gums. Well, obviously. She didn’t even check my gums. The dentist is rude and generally vile. Why did she become a dentist if she hates people?! Seems like such a money making focused practice. I miss my old practice “up north”! This was so bad I’m considering going back up once a year to use my old one!!!by LouiseNovember 08, 2017
- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Please don't use this dental practice. Having read the below reviews prior to going, I was sceptical - I thought "how bad could a dentist surgery be?" - For a practice to accept NHS patients I (wrongly) believed it couldn't be that bad and must be regularly checked. No. On further inspection, CQC has actually not visited since 2013 so I have advised they do so. So on first impressions, I was pleased. The waiting area and reception have been done very nicely - it appeared clean and well kept. The two ladies by reception (dental assistant / nurses I believe?) were lovely, really welcoming and friendly. I was then taken into the dental room ... I was prepared for Dr Ksiezycka-Ostoya to be rude, having read the reviews below, but that wouldn't have been a huge problem for me. To confirm, she was very rude and blunt. I did not feel at ease at all. She kept the light shone into my eyes despite my obvious discomfort and barely said one word to me. Again, I could have overlooked this, GP's don't always have the best bedside manner after all! Therefore I have two major concerns: 1) As my appointment was just a check-up I paid NHS Band 1 Dental Treatment (£20.60). Based on the NHS website, there is a relatively long list of things that this can cover depending on what's necessary. What isn't listed, however, is a 2 second glance into the mouth, stabbing one gum, and only mentioning the need for a filling after I prompted and asked her to look at a tooth I was concerned about. I would categorically say that she did not complete, "a clinical examination, assessment, and report" or, "advice on preventing future problems, such as diet advice, and cleaning instructions" or, "applying sealants or fluoride preparations to the surface of your teeth" or, "a scale and polish" ... to name just a few of the things on the NHS Band 1 Treatment list. 2) I was feeling very uncomfortable at this point and when she told me I needed a filling I was concerned to say the least. I asked what this would involve, she looked at me as thought I was stupid (I have never had a filling before so I don't believe this to be a stupid question?) and gruffly stated, "injections, anaesthetic, metal". That was her answer, no more. So much for the "advice, diagnosing, and planning of your treatment" I paid for. I have never felt so compelled to write a review such as this before but I was honestly so shocked at the way I was treated by Dr Ksiezycka-Ostoya. It was wrong on so many levels and I cannot bear the thought of another person going through with a treatment at the practice. Tldr; Don't go to Orchards Dental Practice, Torquayby Katy SmartJanuary 27, 2017
